DESCRIPTION

Meeting with Bob & Sandy for the first time, I could tell they had lots of family memories at their old cabin. Their cabin had been added to a number of times, as many are on Lake Martin, and the family had outgrown their old cabin, filled with memories. They wanted to remove the old cabin and re-build a new one, Bob wanted to make sure that we saved as many of the mature trees as they had on their beautiful lot. We carefully measured & re-measured all the trees they wanted to save.

With that information, we were tasked with designing a large, new home on a site with big trees. The lot has a western sunset view, on a large secluded slough & we wanted to take advantage of those sunsets. The giant vaulted ceiling family room & porch allowed for tall glass & slide doors out to the porch with all amenities, a big stone fireplace, a trellised grilling porch, wide stairs out to the beautiful grass & treed lot, ample space for family & games. We also designed a fire pit nestled in the trees for cool nights & marshmallows.

The guest room has a tremendous view of the lake, on the main floor. The kitchen features a corner window glass above a corner-mounted sink, Sandy wanted a huge eat-on prep island, and we designed a large pantry with an appliance counter. The wood ceiling with flat cedar beams contrasts the lighter cabinets in the kitchen. The wood feature wall in the dining adds an interesting texture to the large lake-view windows.

We designed the master with a large corner, lake-view windows & plenty of space for reading or relaxing with coffee in the morning. The master bath features marble tiles with a soaking tub with a lake view, with his/hers walk-ins and a large glass shower there is plenty of room to unwind.

The upstairs feature 3 bedroom/baths, all with lake views, a balcony that looks onto a massive vaulted family room, and a unique second-level den design, we created what we call, an inverted pyramid ceiling, for built-in shelves & TV backdrop, the den has plenty space for a game table or video gaming for the youngsters.
