DESCRIPTION

This project was designed to be placed on an existing point lot, with existing mature trees that Tom & Christy did not want to lose. We removed the existing cabin owned by Waydynne Bolton Bishop, then designed a new home around the existing tree locations. We loved the challenge of Tom & Christy’s vision, designing a new home to take advantage of this Lake Martin legacy property’s full 300-degree view lot. First establishing the location of huge trees, we designed a large vaulted family rm, with a large over-sized stone fireplace, and a beamed vault ceiling that continues out thru a big covered porch with views on three sides. Stunning two-story entry with a bridge overlooks into the family room. The open kitchen/dining allows plenty of room for large gatherings, and the beautiful countertops and expansive island makes for a great morning cup of coffee with the eastern sun rising thru the multiple windows in all rooms. Tom loves to cook, so we designed an outside grilling station, close to the kitchen, for convenience. Christy imagined that the master suite has the look of the existing cabin, so with salvaged beams & barn wood, along with designing the master suite a little off from the main body of the house, we were able to give an old look to a new structure. With the master wing off to one side of the lot, we designed the oversized garage on the opposite side of the lot, therefore providing some bit of privacy on this open point lot, without closing off views of Willow Point golf course. Above the garage, we designed a sort-of zen/craft space for Christy’s eclectic styles, with enormous views of the lake.
